What Career is Right for You?

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A firefighter? Doctor? Teacher? Football player? Veterinarian?

Many of us knew what we wanted to be when we grew up. Some of us made that dream a reality, and some of us took a new path.

Choosing a career for the first (or second or third) time can be a daunting task. There are so many choices. So many important decisions to make.

SOI provides a unique opportunity for individuals to evaluate their career potential.

The SOI test produces a profile of learning abilities in the areas of cognition, memory, problem-solving, evaluation, and creativity. Figural, symbolic, and semantic abilities are also included. All of these abilities are compared to the ability requirements for a wide variety of jobs.

The result? A picture of how well the client’s potential is suited to a specific job.

Clients are able to see whether or not they are likely to succeed in a particular career. They also discover their learning strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to the variety of SOI training materials available, low abilities can be improved to open the door to a wider variety of career options for an individual.

For example, when I took the SOI test as a high school student, all of my abilities were fairly high except one: creativity. My results made it clear that if I wanted to pursue a career as an architect, my creativity would need to be improved, or else I would struggle quite a bit! On the other hand, I learned that I was already suited for a variety of other careers such as teaching or dental assisting, which don’t require a high level of creativity.

The great thing about SOI is that if I really had my heart set on becoming an architect, there were many training modules I could have used in order to improve my low creativity. In fact, SOI provides this option to anyone for any learning ability.

Low abilities can be built, and high abilities can be enhanced. All these things make SOI career counseling an invaluable resource!
